TalkTalk Business says it offers its user’s users a wide variety of powerful, feature-reach services on the UK’s strongest data network – but we were not able to correctly determine what sort of features their Voice over Ethernet service provides their users with.

There’s no transparency on the available features unless you talk to one of their reps during the setup process. The website states that their service is ideal for business that has over 90 channels and, thus, has outgrown traditional ISDN lines. We can only assume that you’ll get the original features one can expect from VoIP providers – fortunately, no details state that certain features come at a premium.

TalkTalk Business works directly with customers to decide prices – they aim to build a solution which meets the needs of business instead of providing flat rate pricing. For this reason, we cannot correctly determine the value for money the service offers unless we set up an actual plan.

Future Scalability

A positive aspect of TalkTalk’s service is scalability – since you pay only for the channels, you utilize, the cost scales based on demand and use by your team. This makes it a very scalable service that mid or large-sized business can grow with over time.

Setup, Management, and UI

Due to its customized nature, you’ll have to interface with TalkTalk Business’ representatives to get it all to work after the account is set up. The Next Generation Network provides users with a variety of functionality and features you can control and access quickly through a web-based dashboard.

Customer Care

The service provides significant support infrastructure as well – they claim to have over 600 specialists who are ready to provide quick fixes, and offer 24/7 access to their fault management team in case of an emergency or issue that needs to be dealt with. The team is ready to help with installation for business who are making the transition from older, traditional phone systems, to VoIP.

One can access support through a large number of channels including a knowledgebase that’s broken down by service type and known issues. There is a section populated with various videos which help you manage systems and troubleshoot the most common problems.

Support and service for traditional phones are available from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday. There’s no 24/7 phone support, but it’s available around the clock through different channels.

Mobile Friendliness

TalkTalk Business does not provide traditional mobility – this means it does not have mobile device apps to receive or make calls. It can be useful for call center organizations or large growing businesses but can be a bit disappointing for organizations that have lots of outside representatives.

Compared to many other VoIP providers, it's a bit hard to figure out the information TalkTalk Business provides on their service in order to properly understand what you'd be ordering. Unfortunately, in order to learn more about the service, you need to call their main line to speak with an individual or submit an estimate request - there isn't much transparency on their website about standard features or cost of their customized plans.
